We Bought a School Bus
After a month of floor plans and bus listings, we found her: a Thomas Saf-T-Liner C2, built in late 2007. It's a flat-nose transit bus with a Cummins diesel and dual rear wheels. It's rated for over 32,000 lb, so there's plenty of room for everything we'll put in it.
Inside, all of the original bench seats are still bolted in, along with the rubber aisle mat, the cameras, and the defrost fans. We measured the usable box at about 27 feet by 7 feet, with 76 inches of headroom down the center. That's enough to stay under a roof raise.
Her name is Beaujolais. Next up: pulling every seat, the floor, and the ceiling, and seeing what's underneath.
